*This article is a follow up to our "Promoting Social Change Through 3D Printing" newsletter.
Are you trying to support a cause using 3D printing but not looking to create a life-size installation? Here are some other ways:
Voodoo makes it easy to 3D print keychains, coasters, or rings that make a statement. Using our Hot-swap technology, you can 3D print parts that support your cause. Usually, these items can end up costing from $5 to $10 a piece.
Below you can see our customizable keychains for the 2017 campaign "We are all immigrants."
Hot-Swapped* Pride-themed objects
Zooheads creates wild-life themed 3D printed showerheads and made a special Pride Unicorn (using hot-swaps for the horn) in 2018. 10% of all Pride unicorn sales are still going to the Brooklyn Pride Community Center to support their mission of providing programs for the borough's LGBTQ+ community.
Make custom prosthetics available to everyone
eNable, creates 3D printed prosthetics that can be customizable to make them accessible to people. You can download the files here and have them printed at Voodoo. Now you don't have to invest a huge amount of money to create access to prosthetics.
Level the field
Manufacturing can be extremely expensive when you first start. Many people decide to not pursue their dream of launching an innovative product because they can't afford to stock up with product without knowing for sure if they will sell it. 3D printing allows you to print 100, 50, 10, or even one product at a time so you can grow at your own pace.
Here you can check out one of our featured customers who did exactly that when trying to launch a high-end line of furry phone cases.
Make pop-up statements
Customers have in the past created fidget coins that they can customize with text and have left them lying around for people to find and play with. The fidget coins contained targetted messages that the user can read as they fidget with the coin ($7-$15, depending on design and colors).
