What is Large-Format Printing?
Large-Format Printing is a new service by Voodoo Manufacturing that allows you to order larger prints. You no longer have to limit yourself to our regular print envelope of 10.5” x 5.5” x 6” (266.7mm x 139.7mm x 152.4mm).
How large can I go?
You can go as large as 11.8” x 11.8” x 23.8”(299.72mm x 299.72mm x 604.52mm) for a single part.
How does Large-Format compare to your regular format?
Our maximum print size increases by nearly 8 times:
Do you use the same settings?
The settings for Large-Format printing are slightly different:
- Layer Height: 0.3mm (resolution)
- Infill: 10% (durable but cost-optimized)
- Shells: 2 (at 0.4mm per shell)
Why can’t I just cut my part to fit the regular format?
You can! It all depends on what you want your part for. Having a part print as one can avoid having to assemble it or glue it together. Also, you will get rid of the visible seams between sections.
If your part is too large for Large-Format Printing, you can still cut it in sections. The benefit of using Large-Format is that you would be able to cut it into fewer parts, creating an easier to assemble and almost seamless final model.
How do I know my part needs Large-Format Printing?
If your part is too large for our regular format in Direct Print, it will automatically be routed to Large-Format Printing. You will be notified during upload (see below) so you can decide to rework your file to fit our regular format or continue to order your part in Large-Format Printing:
How fast will I be able to get my print?
Large-Format Printing has special settings and a higher average print-time. Because of this, only our standard 5-day production speed will be available for large-format prints.
What colors and materials will be available?
Large-Format Printing will be available only in PLA and will offer the following colors:
Black, White, and Cool Gray
What about the cost?
The cost will vary depending on your part. Since you will be printing a larger part and because it's a different pricing model, costs will possibly increase. However, you may actually save money if you don’t have to cut and assemble your model.
